Where it all began

Some people find their voice slowly. Ashley found hers at 14, on stage in Mumbai. As a Top 14 finalist on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa USA, Ashley competed in front of millions on one of the most beloved television franchises in the world — facing judges like Ali Zafar and Manali Thakkar, representing her family, her culture, and a little girl from the Chicago suburbs who grew up singing at every auntie party she could find. That moment didn't just cement her as a rising performer. It showed her what was possible. Growing up in a close-knit South Asian community outside Chicago, Ashley was always performing — Bollywood dances, Indian classical solos, anything that put her in front of a crowd. Her weekdays looked a little different. She went on to earn a degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin–Madison — a background that shaped the way she approaches her creative work, with structure, intention, and a need to find what's underneath.

Born to create

The content came naturally. Ashley started creating comedy sketches rooted in the specific, chaotic, deeply loving experience of growing up brown in America — desi family dynamics, dating culture, the push and pull of identity. Her first viral hit, a goofy skit with her dad, crossed a million views and introduced the world to the family dynamic her audience keeps coming back for. Today, she has over 300K followers across TikTok and Instagram, with content she writes, directs, and produces entirely herself.

The now of it all

All of it — the singing, the sketches, the storytelling — led her here. In 2025, Ashley makes her breakout feature film debut in Doin' It, a comedy that premiered to acclaimed reviews at SXSW and hits theaters nationwide on September 19. She plays a bold, fashion-forward South Asian character navigating identity, friendship, and sexuality — a portrayal she describes as "the kind of role I needed to see growing up." Alongside her film work, Ashley continues to build her presence in commercial and on-camera work, bringing the same fearless energy and cultural nuance to every project she takes on.
